Small Christian Communities
SPIRITUAL DIRECTOR : Fr. Aniceto Pereira
LAY CO-ORDINATOR : Michelle Pinto
SCCs are Small Christian Communities which have been around for 25 years in our Archdiocese and our parish. Thanks to the tireless efforts of Bishop Bosco Penha, and his team of priests and lay faithful.
The purpose of the SCCs is to provide all the lay faithful an opportunity to live their faith in the neighborhood - i.e., reflecting on the Bible, praying together, building a bond of caring and sharing, and reaching out in loving service to all, especially the needy. The
Structure of SCCs in our Parish
Our parish is divided into 8 Zones. Each zone further breaks up into Sectors (we call it communities). Some are smaller communities with 50 families and some are as large as with 180 families. For more effective involvement, the communities break-up into clusters for 10 – 12 families. Around 250 enthusiastic team of animators serve in 51 communities of our parish. The animators along with their parish councillors plan and executive programs for the different sections of our communities
-
The SCCs implement programs of various types: religious, socio-cultural, outreach, civic, etc. Many beautiful acts of love and mutual helpfulness take place all around the parish because of these SCCs.

-
Each Community submits a Quarterly Report of meetings and activities to the Parish Priest and the Archdiocesan Director of SCCs. The Reports are studied and each Parish receives feedback and response with evaluation, appreciation and suggestions, every Quarter. This ensures a clear two-way channel of communication.

SCCs have become a priority and have emerged as the main operating structure in all our Parish. People have come to open themselves to others. Liturgical services and socio-cultural activities in parishes have become vibrant and lively.
Community 1 - Baudi
Community Priest: Fr. Harold Vaz
Community 1 popularly is known as Baudi because there used to be a well on the road between the Baudi bus stop and Cross Lane but which is now filled. Our Community is spread from Marve Road and S. V. Road Junction till the cross road near Dominic Colony, Cross Lane, Dias Lane and D'monte Lane till Kanch Pada & Kuria Pada. Our community comprises 7 sectors which also includes the Tamil Sector.

There are around 720 families with the headcount being 2393 members.

We have in all 89 dedicated animators whose goal throughout the year is to get the families to actively participate in the activities organized at the parish, community or sector level. We are happy and proud to say that because there are activities for the children, youth, elders and senior citizens / fellowship, get-togethers and picnics for the entire family / women's day out / animator's day out and even get-togethers for the domestic workers throughout the year, our community is always buzzing with activities because of the active participation of all the families.

Community 2 - Somwar Bazaar & Liberty Garden
Community Priest: Fr. Ronny Vaz OFM Cap
The 120 families of the community are dispersed over a large area. The animators have been instrumental in reaching out to the members of the community. The myriad community activities have helped our families get to know each other well. Our families are supportive and encourage the animators in the plans and activities for the community. They contribute to making our community active and vibrant. Through hard work, we can sail through tough times and unite our community keeping in mind the values of Christ.
